Getting bored in San Diego is not an option! There are so many great activities and sites to visit in the area that will keep you entertained for days, weeks and even months. The city is filled with beautiful beaches, shopping areas, and water sports centres that will keep you happy for a long time. The action in the area is enough to keep just about anyone enthralled, but if you want to venture out further a field, do not forget that Mexico is right next door.
One area that is definitely worth a visit is San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter. This district is a Victorian historic quarter and is full of vibrant modern and historic life. Much of the architecture in the area is from Victorian times, and is a beautiful place to stroll through. The place is full of different kinds of restaurants and cafes each offering different delights. The Mexican restaurants in the area are very popular and are renowned for their excellent fare. The Gaslamp Quarter is an interesting place both during the day and the night. In the evenings the place comes alive with many great bars and clubs. There is live music and dance on show at a variety of places keeping tradition alive.
Being located on the coast, San Diego is host to many beaches and entertainment centres. Pacific Beach is a popular destination with beach lovers as well as visitors to the area. The beautiful beach offers panoramic views of the sea, as well as being home to many restaurants and shops in close proximity. Pacific Beach offers visitors the taste of some great seafood in the plentiful restaurants along the coast. Beach shops and surf shops line the walkway and is an exciting place full of activity. This beach area lights up in the evenings and is a great place to enjoy a drink or an evening meal.
Along many of the beaches in San Diego, you will find surf and sports centres offering a great range of courses and day trips. If you ever wanted to learn how to surf, then this is a good place to learn! During the winter months, whale watching is a great option, and you can spend a day on the boat with your camera. You can learn all about the migration of the grey whale and see dolphins and birds at the same time. Opt to go on a sunset cruise or a sightseeing cruise on the coastline.
If you fall in love with whales and want to see more of them, then your best option would be to go to Sea World and enjoy the wonderful marine animals. Spend day learning about the aquatic world and look at seals, Orcas, penguins and dolphins in abundance. Sea World is fun for both adults and kids and is definitely worth a visit.
San Diego is a city full of character and surprises. Enjoy the vibrant city one minute and then relax on a quiet beach the next.
