Does it sometimes feel as if your children are growing up overnight? Does your house sometimes feel cramped and you feel like you could do with a little bit more room to move around in? Children grow up quickly and your house that seemed so big and spacious years ago, may now feel small and tight. As your kids grow older they demand more space and you may need to start looking at moving to a house that will accommodate your growing brood.

Whether you are having your first child, or whether your kids are becoming teenagers, there are a lot of things to consider when moving to a larger home. One of the most important things that you will need to look into is the surrounding neighbourhood. Is it a safe area for your children to grow up in? Would they be safe to walk on the streets? Have a look around and see whether there are other children in the area and speak to some of the residents if you can. You may be able to inquire with the local police about whether there is any crime in the area, as you will want your family living in a place that is safe. When deciding on an area to move to, you will want to take amenities into consideration. How far is it to your work or to the local shops? Are the schools nearby? Take into account that your children will be changing schools frequently in the next few years as they grow older. Look into the local schools and ensure that they have a good reputation. It is important that the schools in the neighbourhood are good and within close proximity to your home.

When choosing a home for your family, you will want to consider the number of rooms carefully. If you are planning on having another baby, you may want to opt for an extra bedroom. You may also want an extra room for the children to play in, or maybe a study for the kids to do their homework. If the house has a basement or an attic you may be able to convert it into a game room for the kids as they grow older. You will also want to think about the number of bathrooms that you want in your new home. Are your kids constantly queuing up to use the bathroom in the morning? What will it be like when they become teenagers and spend hours in there grooming and getting ready to go out?

When considering what home to buy, you should try to think ahead a few years and see what you may need then. This will eliminate any problems from occurring in the future. Come up with a list of things that you both need and want, and do your best to find a suitable house. Although your budget may hinder you somewhat, you should be able to decide on a house that will be big enough for you and your family to enjoy.
